Command Senior Enlisted Leader, U.S. Fleet Cyber Command / U.S. TENTH Fleet
Master Chief Smith, a native of Queens, New York, enlisted in the United States Navy in November 1993. Following completion of basic training at Recruit Training Command, Orlando, Florida he reported to Corry Station, Pensacola, Florida for CTT “A” school.
Upon graduation, he reported for duty to the direct support shop at Naval Security Group Activity (NSGA) Kamiseya, Japan. While there, he deployed on the USS Belleau Wood (LHA 3). In 1995, he reported NSGA Hanza, Okinawa, Japan and deployed onboard USS Blue Ridge (LCC 19). In 1996, he reported to NSGA Pearl Harbor where he completed a WESTPAC deployment to the 5th Fleet area of operations onboard the USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63). While there, he earned the Surface Warfare designation. He also deployed on the USS Olympia (SSN 717), USS Charlotte (SSN 766), USS Batfish (SSN 681), USS Bremerton (SSN 698), HMAS Otoma (SSG 72), and USS Salt Lake City (SSN 716) where he earned his Submarine Warfare designation.
In 1999, he was selected to attend the three year Military ELINT Signals Analyst Program (MESAP) at the National Security Agency in FT Meade, Maryland. He graduated in 2002 where he then did his follow on tour at the Pacific Signals Analysis Lab at NSGA Kunia where in 2004 he was selected to Chief Petty Officer. In 2006, he reported to USS Lake Erie (CG 70) where he served as the Operations Leading Chief Petty Officer.
Master Chief Smith then reported to Navy Information Operations Command Hawaii in 2009. While there, he earned his Information Dominance Warfare designation and was selected to Senior Chief Petty Officer in 2009. He served as the Senior Enlisted Leader for the Surface and Submarine direct support shop.
In 2012 he reported onboard USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70) as the Intelligence Department LCPO. In 2014 He was selected to Master Chief Petty Officer. He then reported to U.S. Fleet Cyber Command/U.S. 10th Fleet in 2015 where he was the Operations MCPO.
