General Information

The Navy Family Ombudsman Program is a Navy wide program established to improve mission readiness through improved family readiness. Ombudsmen are volunteers appointed by the commanding officer to serve as a liaison between the command and command families. Ombudsmen are trained to disseminate information - official Department of the Navy and command information, command climate issues, local quality of life improvement opportunities, and "good deals" around the community. They also provide resource referrals when needed and are instrumental in resolving family issues before they require extensive command attention.  The Ombudsman is an official representative of the Commanding Officer; he/she plays a vital role in establishing and maintaining current and accurate communication between the command and its family members.
